Milan’s Pursuit of Samuele Ricci: Contacts Initiated, Figures, and Timeline of the Deal

Start

Samuele Ricci has become a hot topic in the Milan derby, both on and off the pitch. While he could potentially fill gaps for both Milan and Inter due to suspensions and doubts, the Torino midfielder is likely to watch the upcoming match from his couch – perhaps for the last time. A January move seems unlikely, with a summer transfer being the more probable scenario.

Calciomercato report that, as of now, Milan have shown the most interest in Samuele Ricci, identifying him as one of their targets for the 2025/26 season. The Rossoneri directors have already made initial contacts with both Torino and the player’s entourage. Ricci’s recent contract extension until 2028 doesn’t hinder Milan’s plans. The renewal was a gesture of respect towards Torino president Urbano Cairo and the club, with a gentleman’s agreement allowing Ricci to leave for offers starting at €20-25 million. There’s no formal release clause, only a verbal understanding that Torino will consider offers in this range.

Milan’s pursuit of Ricci could be influenced by their Champions League progress. Qualifying for the Round of 16 would earn them an additional €13 million, potentially boosting their transfer budget to €73 million.

Interestingly, Inter Milan are also eyeing Ricci, setting the stage for an off-field derby. While Inter hasn’t made direct contact with Torino yet, the relationship between the clubs is excellent. Inter’s directors see Ricci as a prime candidate to rejuvenate their midfield, especially if Çalhanoğlu departs at the end of the season.

The competition for Ricci’s signature might extend beyond Italy, as several English clubs have added him to their scouting databases and could make moves in the coming months.
