Milan’s Okafor Set for RB Leipzig Move: Deal Finalised, Medical Scheduled

Start

AC Milan and RB Leipzig have reached an agreement for the transfer of Noah Okafor, ending a period of negotiations and uncertainty. The Swiss forward is expected to fly to Germany today to undergo his medical examination, paving the way for his move to the Bundesliga club.

Calciomercato report that the deal structure involves an initial loan with a purchase option. Leipzig will pay approximately €1 million for the loan, with a buyout clause set at €25 million. This arrangement allows the German side to assess Okafor’s performance before committing to a permanent transfer.

Earlier negotiations had faced some hurdles. Initially, Leipzig’s proposal didn’t satisfy either Milan or the player. However, the latest offer of a loan with an option to buy seemed to steer the deal in the right direction. Leipzig had taken additional time to evaluate the move, considering Okafor’s recent fitness issues, including a first-degree lesion of the soleus muscle in his right calf.

Okafor, who has a contract with Milan until 2028 worth €2 million net per season, has warmed to the idea of more consistent playing time. After discussions with Milan and his representatives, the 24-year-old forward is convinced about the opportunity to play more regularly following a year and a half of limited opportunities with the Rossoneri.

The financial aspects of the deal have been ironed out, with an agreement on salary already reached between Leipzig and Okafor’s agency. All necessary documents have been exchanged, and Okafor is scheduled to arrive in Germany tomorrow for his medical examinations and to sign his contract with RB Leipzig.

This move marks a return to the Red Bull football ecosystem for Okafor, who previously played for RB Salzburg before his transfer to Milan. It also opens up a roster spot for Milan, potentially paving the way for future signings as the club looks to strengthen its squad for the remainder of the season.

Speaking as he departed, Okafor said: “In life you never know, maybe we will meet again. For me it was the best choice. Thanks to the Milan fans, I leave a place that will forever be in my heart.”
