Milan’s Injury woes: Loftus-Cheek side-lined with muscle tear, Morata suffers adductor strain

Start

AC Milan’s recent 2-1 victory over Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League came at a cost, as key players Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Alvaro Morata were forced off with injuries during the first half. The club has now released updates on their conditions following medical examinations.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been diagnosed with a tear in his right biceps femoris muscle. The English midfielder’s condition is considered quite serious, and he is expected to be sidelined for at least two weeks. A follow-up clinical and instrumental evaluation will be conducted in 7-10 days to assess his progress.

The situation for Alvaro Morata is somewhat less severe, though the Spanish striker is likely to miss the upcoming match against Genoa. Morata has suffered an elongation trauma in the adductor region. Fortunately, tests have ruled out any muscle tears in the adductors.

These injuries further complicate matters for manager Paulo Fonseca, who had already been dealing with the absence of Christian Pulisic due to a calf issue. Fonseca had chosen to start Loftus-Cheek in place of the unavailable American winger.

The midfield situation now becomes particularly challenging for Milan, as they navigate through a crucial period of the season. The team will need to rely on its depth and adaptability to overcome these setbacks as they continue their campaign in both domestic and European competitions.
