Milan’s Ambitious Transfer Targets: Gimenez and João Félix in the Spotlight

Start

AC Milan’s transfer market ambitions are heating up as the club seeks to secure a marquee signing for their attack. While Santiago Gimenez remains the primary target, recent developments have brought João Félix back into the conversation.

The Gimenez Pursuit

Calciomercato report that Santiago Gimenez is Milan’s top priority, with the club having already submitted an initial offer to Feyenoord. Negotiations between the Italian giants and the Dutch side are expected to continue, with Milan preparing to make an improved bid. The Rossoneri are counting on the diplomatic efforts of agent Rafaela Pimenta, who is in the Netherlands to facilitate the deal.

Milan’s management sees Gimenez as the ideal candidate, fitting their criteria in terms of cost, potential, technical characteristics, and goal-scoring ability. The club’s technical director Geoffrey Moncada and CEO Giorgio Furlani are working tirelessly to bring the Mexican striker to San Siro.

João Félix: The Conceição Connection

While Gimenez remains the primary target, the idea of pursuing João Félix has gained traction. Initially proposed by super-agent Jorge Mendes, the Portuguese forward now has a strong advocate in Milan’s coach Sergio Conceição. The Milan tactician would relish the opportunity to work with one of Portugal’s finest talents.

Félix has struggled for regular playing time at Chelsea in the Premier League but has shone in the Conference League, scoring four goals in five appearances. His situation at Stamford Bridge, where he faces stiff competition from the likes of Madueke, Jackson, Pedro Neto, Cole Palmer, and Sancho, has made him a potential target for Milan.

Challenges in the Félix Deal

Despite the interest, there are two significant hurdles in Milan’s pursuit of Félix:

1. Chelsea has exhausted their quota for outgoing loans to non-English clubs this season.
2. The financial aspects of the deal are currently beyond Milan’s comfort zone.

These factors make Félix a more distant option compared to Gimenez at present.

Looking Ahead

As Milan continue their chess game with Feyenoord for Gimenez, they remain confident in their ability to eventually secure the deal. The club is keeping communication lines open with Mendes regarding Félix, viewing him as a potential alternative should the Gimenez negotiations falter.

For now, Santiago Gimenez remains at the forefront of Milan’s transfer strategy, with João Félix as an intriguing but more challenging secondary option. The coming days will be crucial in determining which of these talented forwards will be leading the line for the Rossoneri in the near future.
