AC Milan have officially introduced Strahinja Pavlovic as their new defensive signing from Salzburg for €18 million plus €2 million in bonuses. The Serbian defender was presented at a press conference at Casa Milan, where Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a key figure in the club’s management, spoke highly of Pavlovic.
“We were looking for a defender with a strong profile,” said Ibrahimovic. “Last year, we conceded many goals, so we aimed to strengthen our defense. Pavlovic was the perfect fit. Our scouting team, led by Geoffrey Moncada, identified him as a top candidate. We’ve been following him for a while, and he convinced us all. He’s a left-footed player, which we only had with Theo Hernández in our defense. He plays with intensity and fearlessness, which is the attitude we want. The team needs a bit of nastiness, and Pavlovic is right for this squad. The coach likes him too; he’s 22 with plenty of room to improve. He’s played in the Champions League and has experience in the European Championships. We’ve done everything to bring him here, and I’m 200% sure he’ll become a fan favorite. Pavlovic himself expressed his enthusiasm for joining Milan. “Physically, I feel in shape. I’ve already trained at Milanello and had good sessions at Salzburg. When you join a big club like Milan, your dreams become big. Everything has been positive since I arrived. Milanello is beautiful, and everyone is helping me. I like the city, even though I’ve been here for a short time.”
Reflecting on his playing style, Pavlovic described himself as aggressive. “I think being aggressive describes me best. I still need to talk to the coach. I’m here to do my best, whether playing in a three or four-man defense. I’m here to give 200%.”
Pavlovic also shared his thoughts on the Serie A competition and his role in the team. “I’ve spoken to many Serbian players who have played or are playing in Italy. They’ve told me it’s the right move for me now, the right thing to do. Because here, you also come to improve a lot.”
Regarding his decision to join Milan, Pavlovic credited Ibrahimovic’s influence. “Ibrahimovic played a fundamental role in my arrival at Milan. I immediately understood how much you wanted me, how much you were looking for me. It wasn’t difficult to say yes right away.”
