Milan still in the lead for Joshua Zirkzee Despite Man Utd Interest

Start

Milan are still in the lead in the race to sign Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, despite reports from England suggesting Manchester United are looking to sign the player. News broke yesterday that the Premier League side are very keen to sign the young Dutchman, but are yet to enter in talks.

La Gazzetta dello sport report that Milan’s move for the 23-year-old Dutch forward has stalled due to a disagreement over agent commissions. Kia Joorabchian, Zirkzee’s representative, is demanding €15 million in commissions, which Milan are unwilling to pay either now or in the future. This impasse has brought other clubs, including United, into the equation.

United have spoken to Zirkzee’s entourage in recent days to gather information about his situation. While the Red Devils are interested, they have not made any formal offers and are not prepared to meet Bologna’s €40 million release clause for the striker.

Despite the interest from United, Milan remain in control of the situation. Zirkzee is keen on staying in Italy and is eager to join the Rossoneri, believing another season in Serie A will be vital for his development. As a result, a move to Milan is still a likely possibility.

Bologna, meanwhile, are hopeful of retaining Zirkzee’s services. They believe the Dutch striker may have a say in lowering the agent’s commission demands, and the fact that these demands have not been lowered suggests Zirkzee himself is taking his time, giving Bologna hope of keeping him.

While United have shown interest in Zirkzee, Milan remain the frontrunners to secure his signature, with the Italian club still in control of the situation despite the ongoing negotiations over agent commissions.
