Milan pursue Abraham with a clear strategy as Roma consider counteroffers

Start

AC Milan are pressing to sign Tammy Abraham, who is expected to leave Roma following the club’s significant investments in Matias Soulé and Artem Dovbyk. With Abraham’s high wages and recent knee injury affecting his performance, Roma is open to his departure. Milan see Abraham as an ideal backup for Alvaro Morata and is leading the race for his signature.

Calciomercato report how  there’s a gap between Roma’s valuation (around €25 million) and Milan’s preferred approach of a less financially impactful deal, possibly a loan with an option to buy. This situation may come to a head in the final days of the transfer window.

Roma is reportedly willing to consider player exchanges to facilitate the deal. The Italian club is evaluating three potential Milan players as part of the transfer:

1. Noah Okafor: The Swiss forward is appreciated by Roma coach Daniele De Rossi for his versatility.
2. Alexis Saelemaekers: The Belgian winger is another option being considered.
3. Davide Calabria: While mentioned in reports, Milan’s captain seems an unlikely inclusion in the deal.

Abraham, who joined Roma in 2021 for about €40 million, still has a significant impact on the club’s finances. His preference is reportedly to join Milan, attracted by the prospect of Champions League football and reuniting with former Chelsea teammate Fikayo Tomori.

While West Ham has shown interest with a reported €30 million offer, Abraham favors a move to Milan. Additionally, Atalanta might enter the race following Gianluca Scamacca’s injury, potentially altering their transfer priorities.
