According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan are ready to invest a significant sum of €18m-€20m to secure the services of Tottenham Hotspur’s Brazilian full-back Emerson Royal.
The Rossoneri have identified the 24-year-old defender as a top transfer target as they look to strengthen their backline ahead of the upcoming season. Initially, Tottenham’s valuation of Royal was around €30m, but after weeks of negotiations between intermediaries, Milan have managed to bring down the North London club’s demands.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Tottenham are now open to selling the former Barcelona man for a fee in the region of €20m, a figure that Milan are willing to match. Earlier reports had suggested that the Italian giants were reluctant to spend more than €15m-€18m on Royal, but they now seem convinced to raise their bid to €18m-€20m to secure the Brazilian’s signature.
The potential arrival of Emerson Royal is expected to be the first reinforcement for Milan’s new head coach, whose appointment is anticipated to be announced on June 13th. On the same day, club legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to hold his first press conference as a director, further fueling excitement among the Rossoneri faithful.
