According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan have made moves to pursue Emerson Palmieri, the 28-year-old left-back currently at West Ham. The Rossoneri have been tracking Palmieri for some time, but his arrival as a deputy to Theo Hernandez is considered complicated.
Di Marzio reports that This move is seen as a precautionary measure in case an irresistible offer arrives for Hernandez. Palmieri previously played in Italy for Palermo (2014-15) and Roma (2015-18) before joining Chelsea in 2018 and then West Ham in 2022.
In the 2022-23 season, Palmieri made 36 appearances out of 38 Premier League games for West Ham, scoring 1 goal and providing 2 assists. He also featured in 8 Europa League matches, 2 FA Cup games, and 1 Carabao Cup match, though without any goals or assists in those competitions.
While Milan’s primary attacking target remains Joshua Zirkzee despite Bologna’s attempts to retain him,[the club has taken concrete steps to explore Palmieri as a potential option at left-back should Hernandez depart.
