Milan meet with Montpellier for Elye Wahi

Start

Milan are preparing for life after Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Oliver Giroud and are looking to Montpellier striker Elye Wahi. The Rossoneri have made finding a new striker a priority for the summer, given that Ibra could be ready to retire from football while Giroud will be 37 later this year. The transfer of Divock Origi has failed to yield results, leaving Milan with limited options up front beyond the end of the season, meaning they may give precedence to acquiring a new forward.

Calciomercato report that Rossoneri management are considering several profiles; on the list for directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara pair is the name of Elye Wahi. Born in 2003, the youngster can  be played as an winger as well as a conventional striker. Having come through the Montpellier youth ranks, the 20-year-old has already racked up 13 goals and 5 assists in 29 games so far this season, putting him on level pegging with Marseille forward Alexis Sanchez and PSG’s Neymar. In the last two months alone, the Frenchman has managed 5 goals and 3 assists.

A meeting between AC Milan and the player’s entourage is reportedly scheduled in the coming days and they will try to see if there is room to deepen talks with the Rossoneri, who could once again look to Ligue 1 to do their summer ‘shopping’.

Wahi has a contract with Montpellier expiring in June 2025, with a valuation of around €25 to 30 million,  and is already being followed by a number of Ligue 1 and Bundesliga clubs.
