Milan eye Trincao as potential signing

Start

AC Milan are considering Francisco Trincao as a potential reinforcement for their attacking lineup this transfer window. The 25-year-old Portuguese winger, currently playing for Sporting Lisbon, has caught the attention of Milan’s sporting directors Moncada and Furlani, who could provide new coach Sergio Conceicao with an additional offensive option.

Calciomercato report that Trincao, a left-footed attacking player, has been on Serie A clubs’ radar for some time. His agent, Jorge Mendes, who also represents Conceicao, is pushing for the move. Born in 1999, Trincao came through Sporting Braga’s youth academy before joining Barcelona in 2020. After struggling to make an impact in Catalonia and a loan spell at Wolverhampton, he found his footing back in Portugal with Sporting Lisbon.

In 129 appearances for Sporting, Trincao has contributed 30 goals and 25 assists. This season alone, he has netted 6 goals and provided 8 assists in 17 Liga Portugal matches, plus one goal in three Portuguese Cup games. At 25, he has finally become a consistent performer, shedding the label of an “inconsistent talent.”

Trincao’s contract with Sporting runs until 2026. Any club looking to sign him would need to offer over 20 million euros, but only half of that would go to Sporting. Barcelona, who sold him to Sporting in 2022, retain a 50% sell-on clause and an option to buy him back in June 2026 for 25 million euros.

Milan is currently working on multiple fronts in the transfer market. Their primary goal is to offload players before bringing in new faces to the offensive department. In this context, the situations of Okafor, who is in talks with RB Leipzig, and Chukwueze are worth monitoring. On the incoming front, Milan is planning to contact Marcus Rashford’s representatives, currently their priority target, although they face stiff competition for his signature.
