Milan express strong interest in centre-back Diogo Leite

Start

Milan are looking to strengthen their back line and have expressed a strong interest in Union Berlin defender Diogo Leite. The Rossoneri are close to announcing the arrival of Paulo Fonseca as their head coach, while a deal for Joshua Zirkzee is also in the works.

Sky Sport Italia report that next on the Rossoneri’s list could be Leite, a left-footed center-back who has emerged as a prominent target. The Portuguese defender has spent the last two seasons in the Bundesliga with Union Berlin, after stints with top Portuguese clubs Porto and Braga, where he developed through Porto’s youth system.

Leite caught the eye of Milan’s management and is also favoured by fellow Portuguese, Fonseca. Over the past two seasons, Leite has made 80 appearances across all competitions, contributing one goal and one assist. His performances have helped Union Berlin secure a Champions League qualification, underscoring his potential and consistency.

Union have set an initial asking price of €18 million for the player and Milan’s interest in the 25-year-old is strong; negotiations may progress in the coming weeks to meet the German club’s valuation.

Meanwhile, Milan is also maintaining communication with Aston Villa regarding Matty Cash, another defensive reinforcement. The English club has set a price tag of €30 million for Cash.
