The ongoing investigation into ultras groups, conducted by the Flying Squad and coordinated by prosecutors Paolo Storari and Sara Ombra, continues to unfold. Two weeks ago, this investigation led to 19 arrests among members of Inter’s Curva Nord and Milan’s Curva Sud. Yesterday, Davide Calabria, defender and captain of AC Milan, was heard as a witness in the investigation.
Calciomercato report how at the centre of the inquiry is a meeting that took place in early 2023 between Calabria and Luca Lucci, a prominent Milan ultra who was among those arrested in the investigation. According to investigation records, this meeting occurred in February 2023 at a bar in Cologno Monzese.
The investigation documents note that Lucci was “cryptically informed” by Giancarlo Capelli, known as “il Barone” and a long-standing Milan ultra leader, about the imminent arrival of someone he was supposed to meet, without revealing the name. Based on images captured by investigators, authorities believe this person to be Davide Calabria, the Milan captain.
When questioned by investigators, Calabria reportedly explained that Lucci had contacted him to discuss “the team’s problems, locker room issues, and performance.” The Milan captain stated that these were the topics they talked about during their meeting.
Importantly, Calabria denied being approached or threatened to fulfil any requests for Milan match tickets. He also told investigators that he did not know how Lucci had obtained his phone number and that he had not informed the club about his meetings with the ultras.
