Milan being linked with Conte move as potential Pioli replacement

Start

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Milan could look to Antonio Conte as a potential successor to Stefano Pioli this summer. The Rossoneri have struggled for form this season, being eliminated from the Champions League and winning just one of their last three Serie A matches, leaving them third in the table behind Juventus and Inter.

Gazzetta claim that there is no immediate intention from Milan to sack Pioli, who has a contract with the club until 2025, but they are seriously considering lining up a replacement for him next summer.

Growing speculation in the Italian press suggests Conte will be likeliest candidate to replace Pioli, given that he’s the highest profile Italian manager available at present.

The former Spurs coach has already won the scudetto with both Inter and Juve, and the suggestion is that his winning mentality may be what the Rossoneri need, going forward.

Gazzetta suggest that players like Mike Maignan, Fikayo Tomori, Theo Hernandez, Ismael Bennacer, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao could form the basis of a core that Conte could work with.
