Milan are navigating a challenging time, highlighted by a disappointing draw against Genoa during the club’s 125th anniversary celebrations. Despite the lacklustre performance on the pitch, the management is moving forward with important contract renewals, securing the futures of key players Tijjani Reijnders and Mike Maignan.
Calciomercato report how following a frustrating match that saw the Rossoneri fail to capitalize on numerous opportunities, the club’s leadership has shifted focus to strengthening their squad. An important meeting took place today with Theo Hernandez’s agent, indicating Milan’s commitment to retaining their top talents.
According to the report, agreements have been reached for Reijnders and Maignan to extend their contracts with the club. Both players are considered integral to coach Paulo Fonseca’s plans moving forward. The renewals will allow them to continue benefiting from the tax advantages provided by Italy’s “Decreto Crescita,” which applies to contract renewals for players already enjoying these benefits.
Reijnders is set to extend his stay at Milan until 2029, with his salary doubling from €1.7 million net per season to €3.5 million, plus performance-related bonuses. Similarly, Maignan will also see his contract extended until 2029, with his new salary rising to approximately €5 million net per season, along with substantial bonuses.
