Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay has expressed his pride and excitement about his move to Napoli. In a recent interview with the club’s official channels, McTominay shared his thoughts on his new team, manager Antonio Conte, and his aspirations in Serie A.

McTominay revealed that when he learned of Napoli’s interest, he felt a fire ignite within him. “I’m proud to play here,” he stated. “When I heard about Napoli’s interest, I felt the fire inside me. I wanted to come here and push as much as possible because the fans are crazy, I’d say they’re among the best fans I’ve ever seen. Incredible. I can’t speak highly enough about the fans, the people, the city, and the welcome I’ve received from my teammates and coaches.”

The midfielder also spoke about his new manager, Antonio Conte, praising his demanding nature and the positive impact it has on players. “When a coach of his caliber wants to bring you into his team, it fills you with confidence and a desire to show him that you can give him a lot,” McTominay explained. “The conversations we’ve had between us have all been very positive. He is very demanding, which is very, very positive for a player of my age. I’m 27 now, I’m not a kid anymore, but I’m not old either.”

McTominay acknowledged the differences in Italian football and expressed his enthusiasm for the new challenge. “Italian football is different, and I’ve enjoyed it a lot,” he said. “Obviously, there are many tactical aspects that you need to understand and study. But if you apply yourself and train correctly, and you’re fit enough to enter and are willing to learn, then you can adapt quite quickly to the way the coach wants to play and the type of game in the league.”

The Scottish international also shared insights into his football idols and his love for the sport. “Wayne Rooney and Zinedine Zidane, players of that kind. I’ve always watched them closely and wanted to pay attention to everything they did in the game and try to emulate them even as a child,” McTominay revealed. He added, “The emotions that football has given me have been many. I love this game, I love playing it, and I have a great desire to win and succeed. I want to give my all every time I train and every time I play to give my best, to help my teammates and the coach.”
