Materazzi: ‘It’s impossible for Lukaku to go back to Inter now’

Start

Former Inter defender Marco Materazzi believes it’s impossible for former Nerazzurri striker Romelu Lukaku to return to the club now. The Belgian was in talks to return to Milan this summer, but reportedly reached an agreement with Serie A rivals Juventus as well, earning the ire of the Inter ultras. Reports yesterday suggested that Lukaku tried to reopen talks with Inter, but speaking on Sportitalia, Materazzi suggested this is an impossible task:

“Personally I have a beautiful relationship with him (Lukaku), but the story with Inter is over. Inter embraced him back like a son, going back now is impossible. We have not heard his voice yet: he should speak. The Inter fan forgives you once, twice…. it’s difficult.

“The locker room? When you have experienced so many things together, that is the least problem. In the meantime, he has not spoken yet. He left Inter saying he loved Chelsea, then he wanted to come back, in the last season he was missed for a long time and nobody blamed him for the episode in the Champions League final. What he did was bad.”

“Balogun? He is a strong player, but if Arsenal wants to win the league I don’t know if they let him leave. For me, Inter are always Scudetto contenders, but so many locker room men have left. The various players Barella, Bastoni and Dimarco will have to be good with the newcomers.

“I like Thuram very much, finally an Inter Thuram: in my opinion he can make a difference. Bisseck has incredible physical strength, he can play in two positions and can grow.”

“Cuadrado? He made a brave choice, as a player there is no question. Now he will have to prove himself, otherwise there will be problems. He has everything to lose, if he chose Inter means he is super motivated.”
