Marseille Interested in Inter Milan youngster Valentin Carboni

Start

Valentin Carboni’s tenure at Inter Milan is nearing its end, with Marseille advancing in their efforts to secure the 2024 Copa America winner. Despite Inter’s hefty €30 million asking price, the French club remains undeterred and has opened negotiations to bring the 19-year-old forward to Ligue 1.

According to French newspaper L’Equipe, Inter Milan are eager to offload Carboni this summer. Although the Argentine international has shown significant potential, his playing style does not align with manager Simone Inzaghi’s tactical approach. Consequently, the reigning Serie A champions have decided to place Carboni on the transfer market.

Monza had been interested in extending Carboni’s loan, but Inter are no longer entertaining temporary deals. Instead, they are focused on securing a substantial transfer fee, with Marseille reportedly prepared to meet their financial demands.

New coach Roberto De Zerbi has been actively strengthening Marseille’s squad this summer, having already signed Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Mason Greenwood, among others. Carboni could be the next significant addition if a deal with Inter is finalized.

Marseille prefer to acquire Carboni on a loan deal with a mandatory purchase option. Inter is likely to agree to this structure if the total payment reaches €30 million, although Marseille hopes to spread the cost through various add-ons. This payment method may not satisfy Inter, who are keen on a straightforward financial arrangement.

Meanwhile, Inter are reportedly eyeing Federico Chiesa as a potential new signing. With Chiesa’s future at Juventus uncertain, Inter is closely monitoring the situation, potentially setting the stage for another high-profile transfer.
