Marotta: ‘We have built an even more competitive squad for next season’

Start

Inter’s CEO Giuseppe Marotta held a press conference to present the club’s plans for the 2024-25 season, while also confirming Simone Inzaghi’s contract renewal. Following their Scudetto victory last season, the Italian champions are set to reconvene at Appiano Gentile on Saturday, July 13th.

Marotta began by announcing Simone Inzaghi’s contract extension: “We still have images of Inter fans painting Milan on that magical night. Today, we begin a new journey together, with our jersey adorned with the tricolor and the second star. Alongside us, we will still have coach Inzaghi, who will officially be the manager until 2026. Simone has guaranteed Inter a spectacular group, enhancing the players. He has embraced the sense of belonging and values of our club.”

He emphasized the importance of youth development and improving football’s institutional relationships: “We must ensure that younger generations bring new life to our sport. The added value of a club like Inter is to network everything in our power to recreate positive connections between our world and grassroots sports. I hope that the tension level between the various institutional components of football will be resolved, and that dialogue will continue constructively. This would allow us to deliver a product that safeguards athletes and the sport.”

Addressing the packed calendar, Marotta stated: “Clubs are called to participate in a full calendar with difficult-to-sustain stress. It’s clear that participating in all competitions is a source of pride, but in our opinion, our football must be renewed, providing an innovative product. The longest season ever is about to begin, opening in mid-August, featuring the Super Champions League and the Italian Super Cup, and concluding with the Club World Cup. Almost 70 official matches for those who go all the way.”

In conclusion, Marotta affirmed Inter’s ambitions: “Inter wants to be a protagonist, and thanks to the club, we have built an even more competitive team for next season. We have maintained the Serie A-winning squad and expanded it with great players. We are ready to intervene in the market, based on our budgets and the development of our young players, an essential asset. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Vice President Javier Zanetti and Alessandro Antonello for our company. The objectives are the same as always, and the second star represents the starting point for this new adventure.”
