Mario Rui agent: “He’s rejected 5 offers from important clubs”

Start

Mario Giuffredi, Mario Rui’s former agent, has provided fascinating insights into the player’s potential departure from Napoli.  “Every year he asked me to go away,” Giuffredi candidly stated about Mario Rui’s desire to leave Napoli. He further emphasized, “If Mario Rui has been at Napoli for seven years, he must thank my work.”

Regarding potential transfers, Giuffredi disclosed, “I had proposed multiple solutions – from Lille to Galatasaray, from Nizza to Aris Salonicco and Basaksehir.” He added a critical observation: “When negotiations happen, without the player’s agreement, formal offers don’t arrive.”

Most intriguingly, Giuffredi revealed, “The only one who might leave is Mario Rui, as after 7 years he feels the need to be closer to his family.” This sentiment was echoed in another statement: “Mario Rui has expressed a desire to return to Portugal after 7 years.”

The agent also highlighted his pivotal role in Mario Rui’s career, stating, “In seven years, he renewed his contract three times with me. Something that perhaps other players who would have deserved it did not do.”

Interestingly, Mario Rui has reportedly “rejected 5 offers from important clubs,” a move that has apparently frustrated his own agent. The situation is further complicated by Mario Rui asking the players’ union for help regarding his status under new coach Antonio Conte.

Giuffredi’s most pointed comment perhaps summarizes the entire situation: “Contracts only mean so much… you should never keep players against their will.”
