Marcus Rashford’s Transfer Saga: Milan Out of the Race as Dortmund Move In

Start

The transfer market is heating up, and the future of Marcus Rashford has become a focal point of speculation. The Manchester United forward has been linked with several clubs, but recent developments suggest that AC Milan may be stepping back from the race, allowing Borussia Dortmund to take the lead in pursuing the English international.

Rashford’s situation at Manchester United has become increasingly complicated. After a series of disappointing performances and a lack of playing time under new manager Ruben Amorim, the 27-year-old has expressed a desire for a fresh start. With his contract running until 2028, United is eager to find a solution that benefits both the club and the player.

Calciomercato report that Borussia Dortmund have  ramped up their efforts to secure Rashford’s services, engaging in discussions with his representatives. Following a disappointing defeat to Holstein Kiel that left them mid-table in the Bundesliga, Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl and coach Nuri Sahin have decided to expedite their pursuit. They are reportedly open to arranging a loan deal without an option to buy, which aligns with United’s preference for a straightforward loan arrangement.

AC Milan had initially shown strong interest in Rashford but now appears to be withdrawing from negotiations. The Rossoneri have been hesitant to meet Rashford’s wage demands, which amount to €7 million net until June. Milan has expressed reluctance to cover more than 50% of his salary, while Dortmund seems more willing to accommodate these financial terms.

Additionally, tactical considerations play a role in Milan’s decision-making. With Rashford and star player Rafael Leão both favouring left-wing positions, it complicates how they could fit into the team’s structure. This has led Milan to explore alternative options as they seek to strengthen their attacking lineup.

Barcelona remain in the background as a potential destination for Rashford. However, they must first address their financial constraints before making any significant moves. The club is reportedly looking to offload players like Ansu Fati to create space in their wage budget. Coach Hansi Flick has publicly stated his satisfaction with the current squad, which may further delay any potential approach for Rashford.

With Rashford seemingly out of reach, AC Milan is considering other options for bolstering their attack. Giovanni Reyna from Borussia Dortmund has emerged as a potential target. The young American winger has faced injury challenges but possesses significant talent that could benefit Milan if he can regain form. Another name linked to Milan is Joao Felix, who is struggling for minutes at Chelsea and could be available for a loan move.

Milan’s current situation is precarious, especially with injuries affecting key players like Christian Pulisic and Samuel Chukwueze. Coach Sergio Conceiçao finds himself with limited options on the wing and must act quickly to reinforce his squad as the transfer window approaches its conclusion.
