Marchisio: ‘Zirkzee? Let’s not forget Vlahovic, who’s alone. Someone will be needed in January…’

Claudio Marchisio shared his thoughts on the current state of Italian football and Juventus in particular during an interview at the presentation of the Pietra Alta-Falchera fields in northern Turin.

Regarding the Serie A standings, Marchisio noted, “Today it seems to be returning to the past with the ‘seven sisters’, the standings are really tight. I hope it can last as long as possible. The championship is balanced, there are teams more ready and designed to win. But yes, it’s balanced, there are those with injuries, more matches, those who need to find the right setup with a new coach. I put Inter ahead of all, even Napoli.”

On Juventus’ current situation, he commented, “They’re coming from difficult years, but this year there’s been a big change. The coach who left knew the environment very well and left with the Coppa Italia victory. Now the idea is totally different, we’ve already seen games with Juve down to 10 men, like in Leipzig, putting in a great performance. These performances alternate with less beautiful games. They need to find their balance, in my opinion, I think they have a bit of a short bench. I hope that in January… As a fan, I hope some signings can arrive.”

Addressing the potential impact of recent events, Marchisio said, “Risk of backlash? They’re all so experienced that they know how to react. It’s an important loss but the team has players in that role who can help Thiago.”

When asked about Zirkzee, he responded, “Surely he’s a player of great talent, he proved it last year. But when we talk about a player who did well the previous year with a coach and then they took different paths, many times they try to bring them back together. But it doesn’t mean it could be the right path. We need to have faith in a player like Vlahovic who is still demonstrating his talent and remember that he’s alone. I repeat: I hope that someone can arrive in January, including Milik’s return to the field.”

On the topic of player form, Marchisio added, “Fagioli dropped and Thuram hyped? These are classic moments of the season, as happens to others in other departments. It happens that there are those who are doing better and those who are doing less well.”
