Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee in a deal that surpasses his €40m release clause. The Red Devils have agreed to pay €42.5m for the Dutch forward, structured over three years to optimize their financial arrangements.
The total cost of the transfer is expected to reach approximately €57.5m, factoring in a substantial €15m agent commission to Kia Joorabchian. This commission had previously deterred Milan from pursuing the deal, as the Italian club refused to cover such fees as part of their transfer policy.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Zirkzee will sign a five-year contract with Manchester United, with an option for an additional year. The 23-year-old striker is set to undergo a medical examination tomorrow morning, with multiple sources, including The Athletic, confirming his imminent departure from Bologna.
Zirkzee’s relatively low release clause of €40m had made him an attractive prospect in the summer transfer market. However, Manchester United’s willingness to exceed this figure and accommodate the significant agent fees has given them the edge in securing his signature.
