Manchester United prepared to pay Bremer release clause

Start

Il Corriere dello Sport claim that Manchester United are prepared to pay the €60m release clause for Juventus defender Bremer. The Brazilian centre-back has been one of the Bianconeri’s most consistent performers since joining them from city rivals Torino, prompting links with a number of Premier League sides.

Il Corriere dello Sport report that Manchester United (with Newcastle lurking in the background, according to some English media) are ready to trigger Bremer’s release clause this summer to bring him to Old Trafford. The newspaper suggests that the deal would be potentially beneficial for the Old Lady, as ‘the figures being discussed are substantial, far beyond what any Serie A club could afford, especially for a defender, but they are more than accessible for the Premier League.’

Bremer has a release option in his contract, inserted at the time of renewal, worth €61 million: 10% of which would go to Torino, while the remaining amount would be a windfall for Juventus. Fifty-five million net, of which thirty would be a clean profit considering Bremer, who was bought two years ago for €41 million, is currently valued at €25 million on the books. At just twenty-seven years old, the Brazilian, with his current contractual prospects (the current agreement expires in 2028), can guarantee such a significant financial deal, and Juventus know it.

While waiting to understand the futures of Danilo and Adrien Rabiot, and awaiting the outcome for Matias Soulé and Dean Huijsen, two young players whom they might invest in (unlikely) or sell (more probable), the Brazilian defender is the first name the Bianconeri are willing to sacrifice for financial stability.
