Manchester United Poised to Swoop for Dorgu, Outpacing Juventus and Napoli

Start

Manchester United are gearing up for a decisive move to secure the services of Patrick Dorgu, the promising Danish full-back from Lecce. The Red Devils have intensified their efforts in recent hours, potentially orchestrating a transfer during the current winter window and surpassing the interest from both Juventus and Napoli.

Dorgu has been a hot topic in transfer discussions for some time, with United now initiating talks with the Salento-based club. Fabrizio Romano, Calciomercato and others report that this move aligns with the Premier League giants’ recent strategy of recruiting talent from Serie A and addresses new manager Ruben Amorim’s immediate need for a left-back.

United’s pursuit of Dorgu comes after exploring other options, including Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth and PSG’s Nuno Mendes, both of whom proved too expensive. As confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, these financial constraints have led United to pivot towards Dorgu, with direct contact expected soon to assess the feasibility of the deal.

This sudden acceleration by Manchester United has caught Juventus and Napoli off guard. Both Italian clubs had been monitoring Dorgu with a view to a potential summer transfer. United’s aggressive approach now forces Manna and Giuntoli to make an immediate decision, though they are well aware that Lecce won’t offer any discounts.

Lecce’s asking price for Dorgu stands at a substantial €40 million, a figure that neither Juventus nor Napoli have come close to matching. This valuation reflects the high regard for the young talent who was discovered by Corvino and brought to Lecce in 2022, initially joining their youth setup.
