Premier League side Manchester United are reportedly interested in Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae following his impressive performances this season. The South Korean International has been one of the lynchpins of Napoli’s early season success, and it was revealed yesterday that he has a €50 million release clause in his contract with the Partenopei.
Il Corriere dello Sport report that the release clause is exercisable between 1 and 15 July 2023 and only valid for clubs outside Italy. Napoli are hoping to re-discuss the terms of his contract before next summer, as they would like to remove it from his contract or at least revise it.
According to the report, Manchester United are interested in the 26-year-old centre-back and would be prepared to pay the €50 million.
For his part, Kim has reiterated how important his time at Napoli has been, telling a press conference yesterday:
“I am ready to dedicate myself to the national team and I will make every possible sacrifice: I have never played as much as I did with Napoli, which were all very complex matches, and now I understand the pressures of Son Min Heung in the Premier League. In Italy, however, I have had many positive experiences and I feel ready.”
