Manchester United Close to Finalizing Deal for Patrick Dorgu

Start

Manchester United are on the verge of securing the signature of Patrick Dorgu from Lecce. The Red Devils have stepped up their efforts to acquire the 20-year-old Danish talent in recent days, and after an initial rejected proposal, negotiations between the two clubs have progressed significantly.

According to reports from Sky Sport Italia, an agreement has been reached between Manchester United and Lecce for a fee exceeding €37 million. This development comes after Lecce lowered their initial asking price of €40 million, reluctantly accepting the prospect of losing a key player mid-season while maximizing their financial return.

The structure of the deal is reported to be €30 million as a base fee, with an additional €7.5 million in bonuses. Manchester United had already secured a verbal agreement with Dorgu on a five-year contract, pending only the player’s signature.

While other clubs such as Milan and Juventus had shown interest in Dorgu, they are currently focused on other priorities. Napoli had also attempted to secure the player’s services, working discreetly to potentially sign him immediately and loan him back to Lecce for the remainder of the season.

Dorgu’s importance to Lecce cannot be overstated. Under both former coach Gotti and current manager Giampaolo, he has been a crucial player, transitioning from an attacking winger to a more defensive role. His contributions have been vital in Lecce’s battle for Serie A survival this season.
