Maio Rui to sign new Napoli contract

Start

Mario Rui and Napoli have reportedly agreed terms on a new contract just a week after it was suggested he could leave the club. The Portuguese international was thought to be unhappy with the club for dragging their feet over renewal talks and had suggested he could move elsewhere if an agreement wasn’t reached.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the 32-year-old full back has agreed to sign a one-year contract extension with Napoli, extending his deal from 2025 to 2026.

The Partenopei are consolidating their existing squad, having recently agreed a new deal with captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo while talks are ongoing with striker Victor Osimhen.

Mario Rui has been with Napoli since 2017, becoming their first choice left-back and helping guide them to the Scudetto last season.
