Luis Alberto’s scathing remarks: “There was nothing clean left at Lazio”

Start

Former Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto, who moved to Al Duhail this summer after 8 years with the Biancocelesti, has made some scathing remarks about the reasons behind his departure. Speaking to Cronache di Spogliatoio (via Calciomercato), the Spanish playmaker known as “The Magician” claimed that the atmosphere at Lazio was no longer serene or transparent.

“I would have never left Lazio. I would have stayed for life,” Luis Alberto began. “Why did I leave? Tell me one person who has left Lazio on good terms. They always do this: look at Cataldi now… he’s been there since he was a child. It’s a shame because you see other teams behaving differently: at least they let you say goodbye or hold a press conference. Radu, and even Lulic and Milinkovic-Savic, none of them were allowed to do so. Everyone leaves on bad terms because they don’t speak face to face, it’s a pity.”

The midfielder continued, “Lazio is a special club, but not because of the people inside it, but because of what’s outside, which is incredible. I have many friends who are fans, when you talk to them, it’s everything. There are people who put it before their family. We were happy inside because there were Inzaghi and Tare. I argued with Igli a thousand times, but we knew we were two right people and we would find reason. After that period, everything ended.”

Luis Alberto then explained the turning point: “That was the difference, even when Sarri left, the cycle was over. I had just renewed, for me the idea was to stay for life. However, I didn’t want to stay in a place where I saw nothing clean anymore. I’ve never been quiet. It was time for me to leave and be more relaxed football-wise.”
