Sky Sport Italia report that Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto is set to renew his contract with the club until 2027. The Spanish international has a contract with the Biancocelesti until 2025 but reports from earlier in the year suggested he had fallen out with coach Maurizio Sarri and was keen to leave the club.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Luis Alberto’s renewal isn’t a discussion any more, in fact, the deal is already done, with just an official announcement pending.
The Spaniard has signed until 2027, despite having been offered a lucrative offer from the Qatari club Al-Duhail, which he rejected without considering.
Last summer was turbulent between the player and Lazio after he had failed to respond to the summons for the training camp in Auronzo di Cadore, joining his teammates a week late. He seemed destined for a move to Sevilla. But the negotiation to bring the midfielder back to Spain was always very complicated because there were neither the conditions nor the possibilities on the part of Sevilla to make a serious offer for the player.
After an initial period of readjustment, the player returned to form last season: 44 appearances in all competitions with 7 goals and 8 assists.
