Fiorentina are close to completing a move for River Plate striker Lucas Beltran who has arrived in Italy for his club medicals. The total cost of the move is expected to be €25.5m, with Beltran admitting that he was also close to joining Roma this summer.
The striker will be present at the Stadio Franchi for Fiorentina’s friendly match against OFI Crete this evening, and speaking with Ole, he admitted that he chose La Viola for the project they are building there:
“It all happened very quickly, a year and a half ago I was on loan at Colon, which helped me to grow and opened up doors.
“River Plate had faith in me and today I am a different player, with more confidence and experience. Moments are made to be enjoyed and this is what I am thinking today.
“Paulo Dybala recommended that I join Roma. I spoke to him, but some things did not happen and the Fiorentina project is very good. They have been interested in me for a long time.”
The 22-year-old scored 16 goals and provided four assists in 35 competitive games for River Plate this season.
