Marcello Lippi, the legendary former coach of Juventus and the Italian national team, has shared his thoughts on various topics related to his career and the current state of Juventus in a recent interview with DAZN.
Reflecting on his illustrious career, Lippi humbly stated, “I didn’t make history; I feel I participated in history, along with all those who helped me win everything we won. I’m happy for all that happened to me, for all the people I met. The best choices I made were those related to people – those I chose, worked with, and was happy with in those years when wherever we went, we won.”
Regarding Juventus’ current situation, Lippi acknowledged the club’s new direction: “Juventus has embarked on a new path, and like any new path, it requires time. However, time is a luxury that’s difficult to grant to teams like Juventus, Inter, and Milan who are fighting for the top spots.”
When asked about Thiago Motta’s coaching at Juventus, Lippi offered a balanced view: “I’m being honest: I see a capable coach, focused, dedicated to his work. But after Allegri, I imagined seeing a figure who would inspire the fans more.”
Addressing Dusan Vlahovic’s situation, Lippi drew from his own experience: “I’ve had to manage situations like this. I’ve always acted by giving confidence even to players who didn’t deserve it at that precise moment but deserved it for what they had done in the past.”
On the topic of current top Italian coaches, Lippi was diplomatic: “I couldn’t say who the best Italian coach is; there are two or three. But certainly among these are Inzaghi and Conte. Inzaghi enjoys great consideration; when you achieve many important results, you gain conviction and confidence.”
