Lecce’s Gotti: “I feel we’re growing day by day”

Lecce manager Luca Gotti addressed the media ahead of his team’s upcoming match against Parma at the Via del Mare stadium. The coach expressed optimism about his squad’s development and discussed the challenges posed by their opponents.

On preparing for the match, Gotti said, “Parma is the first team with a four-man defense that we’ll face in this championship. This will change our offensive and defensive outputs. Numerically, they have the same system as us, but with different playing lines and characteristics. There are similarities in the construct of ideas. They’re a very fast team with many quality players.”

Regarding his team’s progress, Gotti stated, “I have the feeling that we’re growing day by day. I’m trying to go in our direction, even though I can never ignore the opponent. First of all, though, we look at our own house. Parma is a team that plays with enthusiasm and lightness, with the right spirit. They’ve actually been unlucky; they could have earned even more points.”

When asked about the return of Dorgu and its impact on the attack, Gotti responded, “The fact that several players are growing gives me more options in my choices. Compared to 2-3 weeks ago, we have a significantly higher number of players available.”

Addressing the fitness of recent arrivals like Bonifazi, the coach explained, “He had a minor knee problem due to the workload. I don’t know if he’ll be able to train today. Both Guilbert and Rebic, who were athletically behind, are improving.”

On Banda’s condition, Gotti said, “We’ll see how he performs in the final training. He was out for 7 days but has returned well. With him, we always need to be careful about the accumulation of workload. He suffered from the two close matches in the national team. We need to be careful about this, then I have to make my considerations in relation to the match.”

Regarding the team’s scoring difficulties, Gotti acknowledged, “The data is merciless; we’re last in terms of conversion rate compared to the chances created. It’s not an easy issue; I work a lot on the final 30 meters. Then it happens that there’s an episode that leads to a goal and creates confidence. I’m trying to trigger this process.”

On the potential midfield rotation, Gotti noted, “I see great growth from a physical point of view for Coulibaly.”
