Milan winger Rafael Leao is calm about his future at the club, saying talks over a new contract will resume after the World Cup. The Portuguese international has a year and a half left on his existing deal with the Rossoneri and has attracted the attention of PSG and Chelsea who both made their interest known in the summer.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Leao offered a brief update on the situation:
“I’m happy, proud, now I have to concentrate on the World Cup, then I will talk to Milan as soon as I arrive.
“Do I want to sign the contract? Even before arriving in the national team we had a meeting with Maldini, it was positive, so when I arrive in Milan we will talk.”
Leao’s contract is a tricky one as he still owes €19m to Sporting CP after unilaterally terminating his contract in 2018, and the payment of this has been included in his requests to the Rossoneri management.
Milan are reportedly offering Leao €6m net per season, but his agent Jorge Mendes is pushing for a higher figure.
