Rafael Leao, through his Instagram account, has shared a screenshot of a message sent by a Milan fan containing racial slurs. Just hours before their return to Europa League action against Rennes and following a defeat against Monza, the Portuguese has once again been the victim of online racist abuse.
A Milan supporter posted a story featuring a photo of Leao with the caption: “I can’t stand seeing you anymore. When you’re on the field, I become racist. I’m highly fed up with you. Go away, you and your followers.”
In response, Leao wrote: “Unfortunately, there are still people in the world with such a narrow-minded mentality.”
Standing in solidarity with the Rossoneri striker, Milan also released a statement, saying: “Rafa, we stand with you. There is no place for racism in our fanbase and in football.”
