Lazio prepare for 125th anniversary celebration: Ultras call for family-friendly festivities

Start

Lazio are gearing up for a momentous celebration as the club reaches its 125th anniversary. The festivities are set to kick off tonight at Piazza della Libertà, a location steeped in history as the meeting place of the club’s founders in 1900. As is tradition, fans will gather to await the stroke of midnight, marking the official birthday of their beloved team.

In a thoughtful gesture aimed at creating an inclusive atmosphere, the organized supporters from Curva Nord have issued a message via social media. They’ve called upon all participants to refrain from using firecrackers and other loud pyrotechnics that might deter families with young children from joining the celebrations. The ultras emphasized their desire to see the square in the Prati district filled with colour and joy, allowing fathers to share this special moment with their children without fear.

The anniversary celebrations will continue on January 9th, the actual founding date of Lazio, with an official ceremony to commemorate the club’s significant milestone. The event will take place at the Campidoglio, Rome’s city hall, where representatives from various sections of Lazio’s multi-sport organization will be received. The ceremony will also feature the presentation of a new club anthem, which fans got a sneak preview of during the pre-match festivities at the Olimpico before the game against Atalanta.

In addition to the ceremonies, Lazio has launched a special commemorative jersey for the 125th anniversary. This limited edition kit is already available in official club stores and will make its on-field debut this Friday when the team faces Como in their upcoming match.
