Lazio in Talks to Extend Pedro’s Contract: The Situation

Start

Lazio have opened discussions with veteran forward Pedro regarding a potential contract renewal. The 37-year-old Spaniard, who joined the Biancocelesti in 2020, remains a key figure for the team, and the club is eager to keep him beyond the current season.

According to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio president Claudio Lotito is keen to offer Pedro a one-year contract extension. The decision now rests with the former Barcelona and Chelsea star, who has been a consistent performer despite his age. Pedro’s current deal is set to expire in June, and the club views him as an important player both on and off the pitch.

Pedro’s impact this season has been significant. In Serie A, he has scored five goals in 17 appearances, while in the Europa League, he has contributed four goals and three assists in eight matches. Most recently, Pedro showcased his quality during Lazio’s commanding 5-1 victory over Monza, where he scored his first Serie A brace since 2019 after coming off the bench due to Boulaye Dia’s injury.

Pedro’s experience and versatility have made him a valuable asset for coach Marco Baroni. His ability to play between midfield and attack has proven crucial in unlocking tight games. As Baroni continues to rotate the squad across multiple competitions, Pedro’s leadership and skill remain vital.

While Pedro has yet to make a final decision on his future, he has expressed his satisfaction with life at Lazio. “I’m enjoying my time here,” he said earlier this season. “The club and my teammates have always supported me. We’ll see how things go at the end of the season.”

Lazio are expected to finalize its proposal soon, with hopes of securing Pedro’s services for another year.
