Lazio enquire about Arsenal full-back Nuno Tavares

Start

Lazio are  making moves in the transfer market, with recent reports indicating their interest in Arsenal’s left-back Nuno Tavares. The Italian club has initiated preliminary discussions with the player’s representatives, signaling a potential summer transfer.

Tavares, a 24-year-old Portuguese defender, joined Arsenal in the summer of 2021 from Benfica. Since then, he has had a mixed career trajectory, including loan spells at Marseille in the 2022-23 season and Nottingham Forest in the 2023-24 campaign.

While at Arsenal, Tavares made 28 appearances for the Gunners. His loan spell at Marseille was more productive, featuring in 39 matches, including 6 in the Champions League. However, his time at Nottingham Forest was less successful, with only 12 appearances throughout the season.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio have expressed interest in Tavares, but the potential transfer is not currently a top priority for the club. However, the meeting with Tavares’ agents suggests a genuine curiosity about the player’s availability and potential fit within the team.

Arsenal’s stance on Tavares appears to be open to negotiation. Reports suggest that the Gunners are willing to sell the defender to raise funds for their own transfer activities. This aligns with Arsenal’s depth in the left-back position, which includes players like Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jakub Kiwior, and Takehiro Tomiyasu.
