Lazio and Monza vie for Casadei as Milan’s Interest wanes

Start

Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei is at the center of transfer speculation as the January window approaches. The young Italian talent, who has struggled for playing time under Enzo Maresca’s high-flying Chelsea side, is looking for an opportunity to gain more regular first-team action.

While Chelsea values Casadei’s potential, their current 4-2-3-1 formation, with Enzo Fernandez and Moisés Caicedo as established starters, has limited his opportunities. As a result, a return to Italy seems increasingly likely for the Under-21 international.

Calciomercato report that both Monza and Lazio have emerged as potential destinations for Casadei. Monza has been in contact with Chelsea for some time and is offering an attractive package: a near-guaranteed starting position and the possibility of a straight loan until the end of the season. Lazio, on the other hand, has recently entered the race and is exploring the option of including a purchase clause for the 2003-born midfielder.

The situation remains fluid, with foreign clubs also expressing interest. Chelsea’s decision may hinge on how many loan spots they have available, making early moves by the Italian clubs potentially crucial.

Interestingly, Milan had previously considered Casadei for a loan move six months ago, with discussions involving his former agent. However, since changing representation to Epic Sports Italy, Casadei is no longer on Milan’s radar for January. The Rossoneri are now focusing their search on a defensive midfielder to provide cover for Fofana.
