Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez spoke about the recent health scare involving Fiorentina’s Edoardo Bove during the Gran Galà del Calcio event in Milan. Martinez expressed his concern for Bove, stating, “We experienced Bove’s health issue with great worry; it was a tough moment. The most important thing is that he is doing well now. I reached out to my Argentine teammates at Fiorentina and coach Palladino, who thanked us for our gesture. For us at Inter, the match ended there; Edoardo’s health comes first, and I send him a strong hug. I don’t know when he will recover, but we take it game by game, knowing we have a busy schedule ahead.”
Reflecting on Inter’s recent achievements, Martinez noted the significance of the awards received by the club: “The awards for Inter are important; we come from a great season. We always talk in the locker room; we are essentially the same team as last year, plus four important additions. They know that when they enter that locker room, the mentality is to win.”
On the subject of individual accolades, he added, “It will be a beautiful evening as we relive the scudetto of the second star; it was the main objective for the club as well. We worked hard, and in the end, our efforts paid off on the pitch. Lifting my first scudetto as captain was a beautiful moment. As for not being included in the FIFA Best Player nominations? Maybe they didn’t have the TV on. Individual awards are important, but what matters is the team. I know I’m a bit behind; I need to work harder. The important thing is that Inter is winning, which makes me happy. I want to be like I was last year; what matters is that Inter stays at the top.”
When asked about areas for improvement, Martinez acknowledged, “What’s missing? A bit of everything. Each season is different; matches develop differently. Teams defend deeper against us and counterattack. I need to improve as I have always done in my career.”
