Napoli fans received a heartwarming response from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who expressed his delight at playing for the club. The Georgian winger was speaking with Versus at the Adidas advertising event “Generation Pred”, and expressed his happiness at playing for the Partenopei and thanked fans for their support:

“How does it feel to play in Napoli? I am extremely happy because Napoli fans are truly fantastic. They love football so much, and I am proud that they treat me so well. Napoli is a great team with great legends: Maradona played there, and there is no one greater. It is also a fantastic city and, in my opinion, one of the best clubs in the world. It’s things like these that make your experience at a club unforgettable,” Kvaratskhelia shared.

Regarding the nickname ‘Kvaradona’ and the comparison to Maradona, Kvaratskhelia expressed his gratitude: “Maradona is the god of Napoli. Being compared to him is so beautiful. But of course, I cannot compare myself to him because he is one of the best players in history. Naturally, I am incredibly proud that fans call me ‘Kvaradona’; it means a lot to me.”

The conversation shifted to his remarkable performances in the Champions League, and Kvaratskhelia described the experience of hearing the anthem before the match: “For me, it’s a dream. Even in my dreams, I could not imagine that one day I would hear it from the field. It was fantastic to hear it for the first time. And when the song ended, in Naples, they sang ‘The Champions!’, and it was fantastic. It was an incredible feeling and a dream come true. It gave me the motivation to work even harder than I do now.”

Acknowledging his status as one of the best players in Europe, Kvaratskhelia discussed the impact on his life: “It’s difficult. Everyone looks at you and sees you as an example. Even in Georgia, the kids adore me, so I have to be a role model for them. I have to be calm, humble, and try to give my best on the field and also outside of football.”
