Juventus’ latest signing, Teun Koopmeiners, made his first appearance before the press at the Allianz Stadium, sharing insights into his move from Atalanta and his aspirations with the Bianconeri.
Koopmeiners expressed his excitement about joining Juventus, a club he has admired since childhood. He revealed that upon arriving in Italy, he became even more aware of Juventus’ exceptional status. The Dutch midfielder stated, “When there was an opportunity, I had no doubts.”
Reflecting on his time at Atalanta, Koopmeiners spoke warmly of his experiences:
“The most important thing is that I spent some beautiful years at Atalanta, especially winning the trophy in the last season, my first title. I grew enormously as a man as well as a footballer. My family always felt welcome, three exceptional years, I was very happy. Throughout a player’s career, there can be many points of view, but I learned a lot, we did special things together. Now I’m happy to have moved from Atalanta to Juventus.”
Koopmeiners highlighted his versatility, having played in various positions throughout his career. He expressed his preference for midfield roles but emphasized his desire to become a more complete player at Juventus.
When asked about his inspirations, Koopmeiners mentioned:
“I’ve always been a fan of Zidane, an exceptional player, a source of inspiration for many. Andrea Pirlo, Marchisio, there are many. Many exceptional players have passed through here.”
The midfielder also touched on his leadership aspirations, stating that he aims to be a leader even without wearing the captain’s armband.
Regarding Juventus’ ambitions, Koopmeiners adopted a measured approach:
“Juventus is a club that has won many trophies in history. The important thing at the moment is to proceed step by step, and that’s what we talked about with the coach. It takes time for us all to get to know each other. The important thing is to get to know each other and think about one game at a time. Of course we want to win, but the approach must be gradual.”
