Representatives for Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae have denied reports that the player has already agreed terms with Manchester United. The South Korean was the defensive lynchpin during the Partenopei’s title push this season, and has inevitably attracted attention from a host of Europe’s elite clubs.
Reports earlier this week claims that Kim’s entourage had already met with Manchester United with a view to agreeing terms for a move this summer, suggesting the Red Devils would bid €60m to sign him. The defender has a release clause in his contract that will allow teams from outside Italy to sign him for a figure believed to be in €50m range.
Speaking with Star News Korea, a member of Kim’s entourage denied any truth in rumours suggesting their client is close to a move to United. They also admitted that United have been interested in Kim since he was playing in China:
“It is not true that a deal has been done with Manchester United.
“Kim is concentrated on seeing out the season, besides which we still don’t know which English clubs will qualify for the Champions League next term.”
“There is no rush for the future. United were interested in him when he was still in China, but we only ever chatted about that. I repeat, there has been no concrete contact. In any case he has to enrol for military service in June.”
