Milan defender Pierre Kalulu admits that there was a moment after being injured, when he wanted to give up on everything. The Frenchman suffered a ruptured tendon in the Rossoneri’s 2-2 draw with Napoli, ruling him out for four months of the season. Speaking with Mediaset, he shared the psychological problems he encountered during his recovery:
“I had been waiting for this moment for three months. After the injury, there was a period, lasting two weeks, where I wanted to give up everything, not even looking at football,” Kalulu shared candidly. “Then came the waiting and the desire to start working again. It was just as I had imagined: San Siro filled with fans, a bit of sunshine. It was long and difficult to endure, especially because it was my first time experiencing such a setback. You try to look at the positives from this experience and push yourself to work harder to be at the top when you come back.”
Honest about his ambitions, Kalulu continued, “To be honest, when you return like me, you already have a hunger for victory. It may sound like a cliché, but when you wear a jersey like Milan’s, you cannot imagine stepping onto the field without thinking of winning in the end, regardless of the opponent. Whether it’s in the league or in the Europa League. Then there are the incidents, but the normal and right thing for us is to want to win.”
Regarding his aspirations on the field, Kalulu revealed, “A goal? It was already in my plan. It’s not a promise, though. I want to score at least one goal.”
