Juventus-Zirkzee deal possible, Amorim: “I’d like to keep him, but the market is open…”

The potential transfer of Joshua Zirkzee from Manchester United to Juventus is gaining traction, with the Italian club’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli working on multiple fronts to secure a new striker for manager Thiago Motta. Zirkzee, who has struggled to find his footing in England, remains a prime target for the Turin-based club.

Since joining Manchester United last summer for £36.5 million, Zirkzee has failed to make a significant impact, scoring only four goals in 28 appearances. The recent managerial change, with Ruben Amorim replacing Erik ten Hag, has not improved his situation, as he continues to be used primarily as a substitute.

Amorim’s recent comments have fueled speculation about Zirkzee’s future. After the draw against Liverpool, where Zirkzee played only the final four minutes, Amorim stated, “I want to keep Joshua Zirkzee because he gives everything. He’s trying in training, but we don’t know… the transfer window is open, we’ll see what happens.” This statement suggests that Zirkzee is not considered untouchable in the squad.

Calciomercato report that the scenario appears clear: Zirkzee doesn’t fit the profile of the striker Amorim prefers, making a January departure possible. However, Manchester United is only considering a permanent transfer at this stage, reluctant to agree to a loan with an option to buy. The Red Devils aim to recoup their investment and are pushing for an obligation to buy clause in any potential deal.

Giuntoli, who has been in contact with Zirkzee’s agent Kia Joorabchian, is working to find a solution that satisfies all parties. For Zirkzee, a return to Serie A is reportedly his priority, with Juventus at the top of his list. The prospect of reuniting with Thiago Motta, under whom he enjoyed his best season (12 goals and 7 assists in 37 appearances), is particularly appealing.
