Juventus Target Renato Veiga as Giuntoli Seeks Last Minute Defensive Reinforcements

Start

Juventus are scouting the Premier League market to bolster their defensive lineup, with Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli aiming to secure at least one, if not two, new defenders. This move comes in response to Bremer’s injury and the imminent departure of Danilo, who is expected to terminate his contract and join Napoli.

Calciomercato report how, with Antonio Silva and David Hancko seemingly out of reach, and Ronald Araujo and Fikayo Tomori preferring to stay with their current clubs, Giuntoli is exploring alternative options. Among the top targets is Renato Veiga, who joined Chelsea last summer for €14 million from Basel.

Veiga, a versatile 22-year-old Portuguese defender, has made 18 appearances for Chelsea this season, contributing two goals and an assist. His ability to play as a centre-back, left-back, and defensive midfielder makes him an attractive prospect for Juventus manager Thiago Motta.

Other potential targets include Lloyd Kelly from Newcastle, Kevin Danso from Lens, and Ben Chilwell, another Chelsea player. However, due to regulations, Juventus can only sign one British player, making Kelly and Chilwell mutually exclusive options.

The Bianconeri are also monitoring Italian market prospects such as Diego Coppola from Verona, Thomas Kristensen from Udinese, and Saba Goglichidze from Empoli, the latter also being of interest to AC Milan.
