Juventus target Koopmeiners for Summer, But Have Two Alternatives

Start

Juventus will need at least €50 million to sign Teun Koopmeiners in the summer, but have already lined up two alternatives. The Dutchman remains the top target on Juventus’ transfer list for the upcoming summer, given that the Atalanta midfielder seems to fit perfectly into the needs of the Bianconeri both currently and in the future, given the current absence of technical leaders in the squad.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that the Bianconeri’s ‘idea is clear’, but the path to completing the deal is less straightforward: the executives at Continassa have already begun their pursuit of the player, but they must contend with potential competition in the next transfer window. The 26-year-old has grown significantly in recent months, showing improvement even in scoring goals, which has piqued the interest of some Premier League clubs.

The current valuation of Koopmeiners is around €50 million: for Juventus, this would only be feasible with the sale of some players. Additionally, there is the willingness of the player himself, who has already expressed a preference for a move to Turin despite knowing of the interest from some top European clubs: the Dutchman sees a switch to Juventus as the right step for him at this point in his career. However, if a bidding war were to erupt, making the deal impossible, Juventus would need to find valid alternatives on parallel paths: for now, the focus remains on Serie A, potentially targeting players who are already familiar with Italian football dynamics.

Gazzetta report that the two alternatives for the Old Lady are Lewis Ferguson and Lazar Samardzic: one does not necessarily exclude the other two, but futuristic considerations are potentially to be developed once seasonal objectives are achieved to have greater financial coverage. Bologna know that Ferguson could become a target for some top clubs: the asking price is around €25 million, with Napoli leading the race having moved earlier than other interested teams. Meanwhile, Samardzic could leave Udinese for a bit less, maybe even on loan: there has been contact between the player’s father and Juve director Cristiano Giuntoli, enough to have definitively disrupted the agreement with Napoli in January. However, the negotiation is still very much in its infancy.
