Juventus Sporting Director Giuntoli discusses January transfer plans

Start

Juventus Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli recently shared insights regarding the club’s performance and potential transfer strategies as they look ahead to the January market. Following a mixed start to the season, Giuntoli expressed satisfaction with the progress made under head coach Thiago Motta, highlighting the team’s evolving dynamics on the pitch.

“The beginning has been uneven, but overall it has been satisfactory given where we started,” Giuntoli stated. He acknowledged the competitive nature of Serie A, noting that “the fact that there are many teams at the top increases interest.” While Juventus has faced challenges, including injuries, he remains optimistic about their position in the league: “Thanks to the coach and the players, we are still in the mix.”

Giuntoli praised the contributions of both the coaching staff and players, emphasizing the importance of their collective effort. “We are very happy with what the coach and all the players are doing. We have changed a lot; it was not easy to restart with a very young team. We must continue to think week by week.”

He also touched upon the national team call-ups for Manuel Locatelli and Samuele Savona, expressing pride in their achievements. “Locatelli is an extraordinary young man, very serious and dedicated with great technical skills. Under Motta, his characteristics can be highlighted, and we are very pleased with him.” Regarding Savona, he added, “We are proud of him. He possesses technical, physical, and moral qualities that are reminiscent of another era. His call-up is well-deserved; he will make a name for himself in the future.”

Giuntoli further commented on young talent Kenan Yildiz, who has been entrusted with significant responsibilities despite his age. “Yildiz has worn a very heavy shirt; we believe strongly in him. However, he is only 19, so we need to wait for the right moments. Patience is required, but I believe he is doing very well.”

As for potential movements in January, Giuntoli revealed that Juventus is actively exploring options to strengthen their defense. “At this moment, we are looking around; the January market is quite particular. We are evaluating different situations and waiting for the right moment. We have not yet committed to anyone specifically. We are looking for a player who is available and ready to challenge themselves as part of a team like Juventus.”
