The relationship between Juventus and Federico Chiesa has reached a critical point. The former Fiorentina player has been effectively removed from the first-team squad, no longer training with his teammates and instead relegated to working with the group of surplus players.
Calciomercato report that this decision marks a significant shift in Juventus’ approach. Initially, the club had attempted a softer strategy, keeping Chiesa training with the main squad despite being on the transfer market. However, the club has now adopted a harder stance, with Chiesa training at different times from the first team.
The message is clear: either Chiesa finds a new club, or he risks being sidelined for the entire upcoming season. With his contract set to expire in 2025, it’s highly unlikely that he will terminate his contract as Szczesny did. Instead, Juventus is expected to lower their asking price to around €15 million in the remaining two weeks of the transfer window.
This situation could present an opportunity for interested clubs to acquire a young, physically fit player eager to prove himself. While offers for Chiesa have come from both Italy and abroad, his wage demands have been a sticking point. Currently earning €5 million annually, Chiesa is seeking at least €6 million per year.
Juventus is keen to find a solution quickly to avoid losing Chiesa on a free transfer. By January 2025, Chiesa could sign a pre-contract agreement with another club, leaving for free in July. This scenario is particularly concerning for Juventus, given their significant investment in the player.
The club is pushing for an immediate sale to recoup some of their investment. However, Chiesa seems to have his own plans, understanding that he must leave but wanting to do so on his own terms.
