Juventus are working on market operations during the international break, with a focus on securing the future of their defensive lineup. Following the long-term injury to Gleison Bremer, the club is now ready to reinforce its commitment to another defensive pillar, Federico Gatti, who has become increasingly crucial to Thiago Motta’s backline.
Gatti, who was acquired from Frosinone in January 2022 for approximately €9 million, currently has a contract running until June 30, 2028, with a net salary of about €1.5 million per season. For some time, both parties have been working on extending this agreement to spread the annual amortization of his transfer fee over a longer period. Significant progress has been made in recent hours.
According to reports from Calciomercato, the new agreement was essentially reached a month ago, with only final details to be ironed out. The contract extension is expected to be officially announced soon. The new deal will maintain a five-year duration, extending Gatti’s commitment to Juventus until June 30, 2029.
Given Gatti’s growing importance in the squad, having even captained the team in several matches this season, the contract renewal will come with a salary increase. His wages are expected to rise above €2 million per year, a figure that still aligns with the salary cap set by Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli at the beginning of the year.
This contract extension is seen as a strategic move by Juventus, especially in light of Bremer’s injury. Gatti, who had already shown flexibility in negotiations a year ago to meet the club’s needs, is now considered an increasingly important asset. The new contract will not only reward his performances but also further secure his future with the Bianconeri.
